CDA No. 1332’s organizational Records, 1951-2009, and undated, include mostly membership records, meeting minutes, related reports, and historical documentation. The history folder and the Historical Book, scrapbook materials, include the by-laws and constitution, and documents the organization’s history. The second volume of meeting minutes, reports, 1962-1975, suffers from some scotch tape acid stains. The collection is organized alphabetically and chronologically.

Collection includes commencement address, 1990; general information, 1963-1974; script, 1976; and programs, 1893-2022 (1900 and 1923 programs are missing). The collection was part of the CMU. Vertical Files. Bound volumes of programs from the 1990s on came from the Alumni office. Additional commencement addresses and information may be found in the CMU. Office of the President papers. The collection is ongoing.

This incomplete collection is composed of historical materials donated by the CMU Department of Mathematics in 2024 and department materials previously housed in the CMU Vertical Files collection.

This incomplete collection is composed of historical materials donated by the CMU Department of Mathematics in 2024 and department materials previously housed in the CMU Vertical Files collection. The collection includes departmental meeting minutes, correspondence, including some with CMU President Charles L. Anspach, brochures, fliers, posters, publications, including New Letters with a note from CMU President Eugene C. Warriner, clippings, photographs, and images printed from CDs, documenting staff, students, and award winners, and mathematics conferences and students events held at CMU. The collection is organized alphabetically and chronologically and is in good physical condition.

Processing Note: 1.25 cubic feet of the collection was withdrawn during processing, mostly duplicates and inaccessible storage media, such as floppy and hard discs, cassettes, and zip drives. Acidic correspondence was photocopied and the copies were retained in the collection. A few CMU college-level fliers were added to the CMU Vertical Files and two issues of two serials were cataloged.

This collection is the official organizational records of the CMU. Honors Program and the related Honors Council. The collection consists of seven series including: Student Biographies, 2006-2015 (Box 1 - 3), Honors Council Minutes, 1961-1995 (Boxes 3 - 4), Honors Council, Academic Senate, Minutes, 1996-2018 (Boxes 4 - 5), Subject Files, 1961-2021 (Boxes 5 - 8), Audiovisual Media, 1968-2012 (Boxes 9-10), Objects, 2013 (Box 11), and Posters, 1992-2009 (Oversize Folder 1). The Student Biographies series includes biographical sheets completed by competitors for Centralis scholarships and Freshmen Honors students. There is no standard format or medium. Besides the biographies, the sheets may include collages, art, poems, songs, and photographs. Some of the biographies originally included materials with battery-operated materials. Minutes usually include agendas, minutes, and attachments, such as communications, reports, proposals, scholarship information, and other materials. The Subject Files series begins with several histories of Honors describing its beginnings and major changes. Program history is also documented in the course description guides, course outlines, Beaver Island class trips, program reviews, policy and procedure manuals, fundraising, scholarships, and endowment scholarships. Information about Honors related organizations including the Honors Outreach Network, the Honors Philanthropic Society, and the Honors Alumni Board is included, as well as three self-published books. Audiovisual Media includes an advertisement video, an Inside Central segment with Ed Long, and many photographic materials, which are largely both undated and unidentified. However, there are folders of photographs organized by occasion or group, including Beaver Island, Centralis, The Claude S. Larzelere Trivia Contest, Directors, Talent Show, the Stratford Festival, and Volunteer Work, among others. The Objects series includes two plastic CMU Honors Program 2013 Winter Charity Ball wine glasses. The Posters series mostly pertain to Centralis Scholars, but also include a timeline on the program’s history, and a photograph of Maestria en Administration Internacional, Cohort 5, 1998. This last poster is the only item in Spanish in the collection. Overall, the collection is in very good physical condition. The collection is in alphabetical and chronological order by series. Boxes 1 through 9 are cubic foot boxes. Box 10 is a letter sized .25 cubic foot box. Box 11 is a small odd sized box.

Researchers may be interested in knowing information on specific scholarships can be found by searching for both the scholarship’s specific title and the general term “scholarships.” Handbooks may also be found in program reviews or Honors Council minutes for a given year. More information on specific classes might be in the Honors Council minutes. Additional information on Honors may be found in multiple CMU organizational records collections and the papers of Dr. Charles Westie which are in his wife, Ardith Westie’s, papers, in the Clarke Historical Library. Dr. Westie was one of the first people who pushed to create the honors program.

Processing Note: During processing 21.5 cubic feet of miscellaneous financial and other materials, evaluations, search committee materials, duplicates, reading and generic materials, lists of prospective students, social security numbers, and unidentified biographical sheets were withdrawn. Acidic materials were photocopied, and the copies were maintained within the collection. A sampling was retained of the following materials: Centralis Scholarships, Graduation materials and The Claude trivia contest materials. The Claude is otherwise recorded in CMLife. CMU mascot information was interfiled into the Clarke’s CMU Vertical files. Photographs, negatives, and biographical sheets were not rehoused due to the vast quantity in the collection and the Clarke’s current resources. In the biographies, wires and batteries were removed.

This collection includes one oversized folder each of State of Michigan Executive Declarations for Gentle Friday at Central Michigan University (CMU), 1988, 2005; posters of events and performers sponsored by the CMU Program Board, 1978-1979, 1985, 2018, 20uu [2000-2018]; and a plaque of the Program Board Campus of the Year Award with newspaper article and photograph, 2001.

This oversized materials collection is in three oversized folders. Folder 1 is State of Michigan Executive Declarations for Gentle Friday at Central Michigan University (CMU), 1988, 2005. Folder 2 is posters of events and performers sponsored by the Program Board at CMU, 1978-1979, 1985, 2018, 20uu [2000-2024]. The posters are of actors, performers, musicians, musical groups, comedians, a magician, a LGBTQ+ Vlogger, and motivational speakers. The posters are all in color, mostly photographic, vary by size from 11 x 17 inches to 20 x 24 inches, some are signed, and some are mounted onto foamcor board. Folder 3 is a plaque of the Program Board Campus of the Year Award with newspaper article and photograph, 2001.The collection is in very good physical condition.

The collection includes church brochures, historical materials, the building project, membership events, sermons, the children’s ministry, Vacation Bible School materials, special programs, general outreach, a partial copy of the church’s website, giving the church’s history, information about its ministers, and related links, annual and other reports, and CDs.

Mount Pleasant Area Diversity Group (Mich.) Organizational Records, 1976-2014, and undated

Mount Pleasant Area Diversity Group (Mich.) Organizational records, 1951-2009, and undated, include mostly meeting minutes, related reports, and historical documentation of the group's activities and events to fight racism and discrimination and foster multiculturalism.

The collection consists of paper organizational records of the MPADG, 1976-2014, and undated. It collection is organized alphabetically and chronologically. Important records include Articles of Incorporation, Mission Statement, By-laws, and Tax-Exempt Status papers. There is a complete set of Meeting Minutes with agendas and related materials, 1993-2011, and a few 2012 meeting minutes, as well as meeting minutes from 1992 of the local ministerial association. Other information documenting the group includes correspondence, activities and events materials, conference materials, the group’s history, marketing plan, newspaper clippings (copies), treasurer’s reports, grant requests, and meeting minutes of MPADG Trustees, and reports, 2009-2010.

Of particular interest to researchers will be documentation of incidents in Mount Pleasant and Michigan, 1996-2005, specifically the incidents at Mount Pleasant High School and the communication and plans of actions to address them and collected materials on how Michigan police dealt with juveniles and youth, 1991-2000, undated. Related to this are two folders of materials, agendas, meetings minutes, and a Mount Pleasant High School student survey of the Mount Pleasant Parents of Color, 1993-1997. Also related is the Mount Pleasant School District Strategy 7 Committee Meeting Minutes, Related Materials [multi-cultural education] folder, 2000-2001.

There are also two reports of interest: Isabella County Human Rights Committee Report to the Isabella County Board of Commissioners, July 21, 2009, and Overview of a Project to Explore Racial/Ethnic Diversity at CMU … presented to MPADG, by Mary S. Senter, Sept. 20, 2007.

MPADG also collected Michigan non-discrimination ordinances and information on how to file complaints, 1976-2010 (Scattered).

In 2000 Central Michigan University President Mike Rao asked for the MPADG’s list of efforts for a study on diversity related activities in the Mount Pleasant community. His letter and CMU’s plan are included in the collection.

Lastly, there is a compilation of information entitled Dr. Merze Tate: A Brief Review of a Groundbreaking Career, by Daniel L. Shaw, 2004.

The collection includes minutes and correspondence related to the Academic Senate, its committees, and chairpersons.

The strength of the collection is the Meeting Minutes of the Academic Senate and its related committees. Other materials found in the collection include: curriculum change requests; Dean’s Advisory Councils meeting minutes; resolutions; correspondence; special reports; recommendations; course syllabi; the Senate Constitution; and miscellaneous materials. Some Meeting Minutes are only represented in the collection in cassette form. Pre-Senate materials, 1940-1964, are also included. Folders with contents described as “Materials” includes a mixture of meeting minutes, correspondence, reports, calendars, etc. See separate finding aid for additions to the collection.

For additional Senate Records see Richard Wysong papers (He served as Chair of the Senate in the 1960s).

Processing Note: The published reports of the CMU President have been removed from the collection and separately cataloged.

In order to facilitate future use by the Academic Senate, Boxes 1-14 and 25 were processed and left in the original order in which they were kept in the Senate office prior to being transferred to the Clarke in May and June 2002. Boxes 15-24 were processed differently, having been compiled from vertical files and prior donations from various sources.

The collection includes minutes and correspondence related to the Academic Senate, its committees, and chairpersons.

The strength of the collection is the Meeting Minutes of the Academic Senate, and its related committees and Executive Board, 1980-2000. Other materials found in the collection include: Academic Senate Chairperson Correspondence, 1980-2000; Undergraduate Curriculum Minutes, 1978-1994; School and later College Curriculum Committee Minutes, 1980-2000; Dean’s Advisory Councils Minutes, 1980-2000; Miscellaneous Minutes of the MSA Council, 1999-2005. Also included are Academic Senate Committee Documents, 1980-2000; Senate Minutes, 1983-1984. Materials are organized chronologically and then alphabetically in an order used by the Secretary of the Academic Senate. Original order was maintained. This 2009 addition is a continuation of the CMU. Academic Senate Organizational Records, 1940-2003, 23.5 cubic ft. (in 25 boxes) donated in 2002-2004. Photographic collection, 1962-2002, and undated

The collection includes photographs of CMU people, places, and events, 1962-2002, and undated.

The collection consists mainly of undated photographs, both black and white and colored, of various sizes, proof sheets, some on cardboard, and some negatives documenting a wide variety of Central Michigan University (CMU) staff, students, programs, departments, special events, and related topics. Some of the portraits in the collection predate 1962. Also, some of the photographs in the collection were taken by private photographers. There are two alphabetical runs in this inventory due to the way the material was transferred to the Clarke and processed. Due to the size of this collection it could not be interfiled into the earlier CMU. Photographs collection in file cabinets. After 2002, all CMU photographs were taken with digital cameras. Peggy Brisbane and her husband, Robert Barclay, took many of these photographs. Mugs means Mugshots. This is a term used by the photographers in the collection.
