Clara H. Brucker papers, 1920-1980

Active in numerous civic and charitable organization, Clara Brucker assisted her husband Wilber M. Brucker, who had served as both governor of Michigan and Secretary of the Army. The collection includes correspondence, speeches, travel briefs and diaries.

The Clara Brucker collection includes papers concerning her work with the Mock Republican Conventions and her interest in the prevention of sex crimes against women and children, the General Federation of Women's Clubs and miscellaneous other charities. One of Clara Brucker's correspondents was May-ling Soong Chiang (Mme. Chiang Kai-shek). The collection has been arranged into the following series: Personal and biographical; School of Government; Women's civic, political and service organizations; Clippings; Travel and trip briefings; Diaries; and Miscellaneous.

Helen W. Milliken Papers, 1965-1982 (majority within 1969-1982)

Civic leader, wife of Michigan governor William G. Milliken. Collection includes topical files relating to Artrain, the Michigan Council for the Arts, the International Women's Year, Youth for Understanding, women's rights issues, notably the Equal Rights Amendment, and environmental protection issues; correspondence files; appearance files; and photographs.

The Helen Milliken papers total 18.4 linear feet of correspondence, organizational records, printed material, and photographs largely from the period 1969-1982 (though there are some items dating back to 1965). The collection consists of four principal series: Topical Files, Correspondence, Appearances, and Photographs. Preceding these is a file of Biographical Material.

Janet Blanchard Papers, 1987-1990

Career state government worker, later wife of Michigan governor James J. Blanchard. Files detailing her career in state government and her later duties as wife of Michigan governor James J. Blanchard, 1989-1990. The collection includes extensive documentation of the Governor's Task Force on Telecommunications (1990) on which she served.

The collection is divided into three series. In addition to a few folders of biographical information, there is a small series of correspondence and other materials pertaining to her education and career prior to her marriage to Governor James J. Blanchard. The third series of papers relates to Janet Blanchard's role as First Lady of Michigan. This later series is comprised of general information, including correspondence; organizational activities files, with extensive documentation pertaining to the Governor's Task Force on Telecommunications in 1990; and events files containing speeches, drafts of talks, and related correspondence detailing her attendance and participation at various public functions.
