Papers include published materials, meeting minutes, and organizational records of three units of the Modern Woodmen of America and Koopman family papers.

The majority of the Koopman Papers focus upon the activities of the Modern Woodmen of America, particularly Camp 7660 (Falmouth, Michigan), and include correspondence, by-laws, membership certificates, catalogs, and financial records. The minutes of Camp 10399 of Butterfield are also included. Some Koopman family correspondence and miscellaneous materials complete the collection.

International fraternal temperance lodge. Records of the National Grand Lodge and local lodges in Illinois, New York and Washington (including numerous Scandinavian-American lodges) containing correspondence, minute books, financial ledgers, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, proceedings, and periodicals; also photographs.

Although the record group does include some correspondence, the bulk of the records consist of minute books and financial ledgers, mainly from the 1880s up to 1920. Many of these are for lodges in Illinois and Washington State. In addition, there are published materials, such as temperance books, pamphlets, and issues of periodicals. The proceedings of annual meetings are from many more states and provide detailed information on the national importance of the organization. The photographs are mainly of various group meetings.

The James Fairbairn Smith collection include correspondence, research files, and manuscripts of his writings.

Associate justice of the Michigan Supreme Court; correspondence, speeches and other materials relating to Michigan politics, Republican Party affairs, and his judicial career.

The Louis Fead collection includes correspondence, scrapbooks, biographical information and other materials relating to his political and judicial career. Some of the files relate to the view from Michigan of the proposed reorganization of the US Supreme Court in 1937. There are also materials concerning the Newberry State Bank of which Fead was an officer. Also of interest are those materials relating to his service with the American Red Cross in France during World War I.
