The 45 letters provide vivid descriptions of military life, and of the natives and surroundings on the various islands where Mr. Dziuszko served (these descriptions were occasionally edited by the military censors). He detailed both the difficult physical challenges of jungle fighting and the recreational activities of his regiment.

45 letters written during Dziuszko’s military service. Anthony Dziuszko wrote each letter to Laura Szewick except the earliest two, which he wrote to both Laura Szewick and her identical twin sister, Blanche. He sent eight letters from Camp Edwards, Massachusetts, five from Viti Levu, 24 from Bougainville, 3 from Leyte, and 5 from Cebu.
