Abstract:
Mary Watts donated five dollars in cash to the American Red Cross War Finance Committee during a fundraising event denoted as the "Red Cross Week" as evident by a pencil mark checking the corresponding box. This a templated receipt with sections for personalization and interspersed is a message that "Acknowledges with thanks the receipt of the patriotic contribution . . . towards the Red Cross War Fund." The receipt bears the stamp signature of "William G. McAdoo," former United States Secretary of Treasury and chairman of the Red Cross Committee of the Treasury Department.
