The Michigan Women's Assembly (MWA) was the largest coalition of women's organizations in the state in the 1980's. The purpose of the MWA was to establish and implement a Platform designed to promote equal status for women in society. To qualify for membership the organization had to support the Equal Rights Amendment and "to not oppose the right of every women to secure an abortion." The records reflect MWA's organizational activity from 1982 to 1991.

Established in 1995 as the Korean Studies Program, it was upgraded to the Center for Korean Studies in 2007, and renamed the Nam Center for Korean Studies in 2010. The mission of the Center is to promote research and study on Korea. It works to strengthen the study of the Korean language, promote graduate training, and sponsors events to showcase Korean culture. The records group focuses on the events and programming and contains some information on the background of the program.

The Nam Center for Korean Studies Program records date from 1995 to the present. The information is sparse, with the main focus being events sponsored by the program. Some information regarding the history of the program is also included.

University of Michigan faculty water polo team. Administrative and background information; also photographs, videotape and video recordings of Flounders events; and digital content of Flounders images and documents.

The collection is comprised of two series; Administration and Background Information, and Other Media. The bulk of the records are in the Administration series, which contains information pertaining to the history of the organization, fundraising efforts by the Flounders for a score board, memorials, and bills for annual charges for supplies and rental of space. The Other Media series primarily documents random weekly games, team pictures, and the planting of a memorial tree in 1983 for deceased Flounder member John Slocum. There are also digital materials that contain images of members, miscellaneous clippings, and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Flounders in 2003. The paper records accumulated during the making of the anniversary video recordings, which include typed captions for images, are within the administration series. A VHS Tape is also included as part of the collection that contains material documented in 2002.

Administration and Governance

The Administration and Governance series, (1945-2010, 2.0 linear feet) contains materials produced in the course of cooperatively running Henderson House. Researchers can find business records, minutes of meetings, documentation regarding the history of the house, and other administrative records. The bulk of the materials consist of minutes and agendas of Henderson House meetings, Board of Governors meetings, and Alumnae Council meetings from 1945 to 2002 and are arranged chronologically. Five ledger books containing minutes from 1946 to 1956 are also part of this series. Other materials found in this series are applications for house officer positions, budget reports, fundraising information, Alumnae Council records, rosters of the Board of Governors, inventories of items in the house, house maintenance files (including floor plans and blueprints), house policies and procedures (including constitutions and by-laws), information regarding relations with the University of Michigan, Resident Director information, scholarship information, surveys of attitudes and experiences, and materials relating to the Society of Henderson Women.

The Office of New Students Programs records consist of files relating to new student orientation program largely concerning diversity training and selection and training of counselors. The records includes manuals, guides, and videotapes and are divided into four series, Administration/Organizational Files, Evaluations of the Diversity Program, Audio-Visual Material and Publications. The Administration/Organization Files, Evaluations of the Diversity Program and approximately half of the VHS tapes from the Audio-Visual Materials series were acquired by the library in 1997. The rest of the material was acquired in a separate accession in 2007.

Administration/Organizational Files, 1987-1996

Administration/Organizational Files (1987-1996) is the first series. The diversity training manuals document the creation of the diversity programs that the office sponsored. They contain records which explain what the goals of the diversity programs would be, and what the university wanted the program to accomplish. The correspondence is mostly between the Office of New Student Programs and other offices at the University of Michigan, such as the Office of the President. The files also document the selection process for program facilitators, and job descriptions. The fourth manual, the most recent, represents how information in the ONSP was kept after 1989. The manual lists facilitators for that year and what activities and programs they would be in charge of. The file also contains general correspondence. Two other files contain evaluations of the diversity program from students that went through the program. All of the comments are anonymous. The series also contains the speech "Towards a Truly Multicultural University" by Frances R. Aparicio, associate professor of Romance Languages/ Latino Studies at the University of Michigan. The final folder in the series contains a speech and a transcript from the network news program Frontline. The episode is titled "Racism 101" and focuses part of the story on the University of Michigan. In addition to the transcript there is a video of this episode in box 2.

The Administration records date from 1964 to 1991 and primarily consist of the Administrative records series which include: meeting notes, memos, announcements and flyers, constitution and bylaws, student directories, correspondence (limited), election statements, election forms and results, survey forms and results, annual and presidents reports, and list of resources for incoming students. The Administration Records series is arranged chronologically. There are no records available from 1984-1986.

Administrative

Administrative series documents the organizational structure and functions of the Workmen's Circle/Arbeter's Ring. Included in the series are seven volumes of minutes from the organization's early period. The Minute Books are largely written in Yiddish. The series also contains newsletters, press releases, correspondence and material related to the different district conferences and committees within the Michigan District. All material has been arranged chronologically.

Historic restaurant based in Marshall, Michigan, specializing in American home-style cuisine. Since 1909, the Schuler family has owned and operated this Michigan institution. Records include administrative files, menus, advertising and publicity materials, slides, photographs, videotapes and scrapbooks.

The records of Schuler's restaurant document the long history and background of this restaurant. The bulk of the materials come from the heyday of the restaurant from the 1950s to the 1980s when the restaurant experienced major growth and national recognition.

The Administrative series (1 linear ft., 1969-2000) covers aspects of running and managing Schuler's restaurants, including public relations files, manuals and employee handbooks, and food and cost evaluations. The Administrative series also includes files covering special events planning, like the All-Michigan meal, Harvest dinners, and Michigan Week activities.
